Driver/Mechanic – GBAO PHC
Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF) is an independent international humanitarian medical organization providing emergency assistance to people affected by armed conflict, epidemics, lack of access to healthcare, and natural or man-made disasters.
MSF, in collaboration with the Ministry of Health and Social Protection of the Population of Tajikistan (MoHSPP) and the National Tuberculosis Programme (NTP), is implementing a project integrating TB and HIV care at primary and secondary healthcare levels in Khorog, Rushan, and other agreed districts in GBAO.
Job Location: Khorog, Tajikistan
Main Responsibilities:
Transport authorized staff, patients, goods, and materials safely using MSF vehicles.
Ensure vehicles are operated according to MSF safety rules and local traffic regulations.
Maintain MSF vehicles and generators in good working condition.
Perform basic mechanical repairs and report major mechanical problems to the Fleet Supervisor.
Ensure vehicles have the required tools, spare parts, emergency equipment, documents, and safety materials.
Plan and organize weekly vehicle check-ups and servicing.
Complete vehicle logbooks, check-up sheets, service records, and monthly reports.
Maintain accurate stock records for vehicle-related materials and spare parts.
Monitor the consumption and condition of materials used for MSF vehicles.
Coordinate with the Supply Chain Supervisor regarding materials and monthly orders.
Identify driver training needs together with the Logistics Manager.
Prepare the monthly driver roster.
Report activities, difficulties encountered, and planned actions in the monthly field logistics report.
Requirements:
Basic literacy is essential.
Valid driving license.
Basic mechanical skills.
Minimum 2 years of relevant work experience.
English and local language skills are essential.
Good knowledge of the local area.
Good knowledge of basic vehicle mechanics.
Ability to work in a team.
Flexibility and ability to work under pressure.
