Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF) is looking for a qualified, capable, flexible and motivated Qualified Translator to join its GBAO PHC Project in Khorog, Tajikistan.
Main responsibilities:
Provide professional written and oral translation and interpretation according to the needs of the project.
Translate medical, administrative and project-related documents accurately and professionally.
Provide interpretation during meetings, consultations, discussions and negotiations.
Maintain confidentiality, neutrality and respect when working with patients, staff, authorities and other counterparts.
Assist with administrative tasks such as arranging meetings, taking minutes and following up on patient care activities.
Support the preparation of MSF and government reports and ensure translated documents are properly organized and filed.
Maintain professional communication with relevant authorities and Ministry of Health counterparts.
Help international staff understand local culture, customs, traditions and communication practices.
Provide advice on culturally sensitive communication when needed.
Inform the supervisor of any communication difficulties, cultural concerns or potential conflicts of interest.
Follow MSF principles, values, quality standards and Code of Conduct.
Follow all MSF security rules and procedures.
Requirements:
Higher education; a bachelor's degree in social sciences is an advantage.
Professional training in translation is an advantage.
Minimum 2 years of previous work experience.
Experience in written and oral translation and administrative tasks.
Previous experience with MSF or other NGOs is an advantage.
Experience with qualitative data collection is an advantage.
Fluency in English, Tajik, Russian and the local language.
Good computer skills, including MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook.
Excellent communication and listening skills.
Ability to work with people from diverse backgrounds.
Empathetic, respectful and non-judgmental approach.
Flexible, responsible and able to work under pressure.
Strong teamwork and service orientation.
