The National Association of Business Women of Tajikistan is looking for a Handicraft Sector Coordinator within the USAID funded "Women’s Entrepreneurship for Empowerment" project, which is implementing in 8 districts of West Khatlon.
Tajikistan faces many challenges, including poverty and food insecurity. With increasing male labor migration to Russia, the burden for women in Tajikistan has increased. The project will work to empower women to establish microenterprises, move into high value sections of the value chain, and improve access to services and support.
Purpose of the Assignment
Under direct supervision of Project Manager and in coordination with consultant on handicraft development, a Handicraft Sector Coordinator will carry out following tasks:
Coordinate development of strategic planning for the further self-financing and sustainability of adras and sewing Centers;
Coordinate elaboration of concept note for handicraft sector in Khatlon region;
Facilitate the process of handicraft law adoption;
Facilitate handicraft trainings;
Identify and involve potential trainers to conduct trainings on handicraft based on needs;
Organize ToT for the potential trainers from Khatlon;
Organize and develop groups of women in different region of Khatlon who can make handmade embroidery, patchwork, machine embroidery and different services for the further co-operation;
Organize value chain between woman craft artisans;
Organize participation of women from the project’s target zones in handicraft events, exhibitions, and fairs;
Assist in finding of new markets for handicraft sector beneficiaries within the country and abroad;
Other tasks as requested by the Project Manager
Minimum 5 years of work experience in consulting related field;
An ability to develop written work plans and practical written recommendations that align with overall Project objectives.
A knowledge and ability to find of existing (or unused) potentials for women's entrepreneurship in handicraft sector;
An ability to prioritize workload, meet deadlines and work independently on tasks as well as work well on a team;
A demonstrated ability and willingness to work and communicate well with women from rural and urban environments who are interested in business, and women who are already have existing businesses in handicraft sector;
Proficiency in Tajik, knowledge of Russian and Uzbek languages would be an asset;
Willingness to travel throughout West Khatlon Province.
