Public Organization IPD (Innovations and Participation for Development) is founded with the aim of supporting sustainable development of the population of the Republic of Tajikistan through implementation of social, economic and development programs. The foundation of IPD has been encouraged by international NGO Welthungerhilfe / German Agro Action.
IPD (Innovations and Participation for Development) was established with the objective to support the improvement of rural livelihood in the country. The organization, in its activity, follows to the principles of the equal approach, participation and introduction of innovative methods in problem solving.
Position: Community Mobilizer (National)
Closing date: 20 October 2016, not later than 17:00
Duration: Starting from November 2016, after successful completion of a three month probation period contract may be prolonged up to 31 December 2017
Based location: Tajikistan, Ayni district
Reporting: to IPD Director/ Team leader
Background and Objective:
Public Organization IPD (Innovations and Participation for Development) invites applications for the position of Agronomist for the Project “Enhancing Water and Natural Resources Management and Protection in upper catchments of Zarafshon Watershed” financed by European Commission.
Overall Objective: To contribute to the stabilization of livelihoods in the rural areas of Tajikistan through conservative utilization of natural resources for an improved food and nutrition security to achieve sustainable poverty reduction
Specific Objective: Establish mechanisms for sustainable management of water, natural resources and protection in upper catchment areas.
Main Tasks and Responsibilities of the position:
Establishment (if not existent) and support of VDCs Farmer groups in their organisational development,
Organize training events and cross visits between different communities
Assist in development of concept and criteria for Community Action Plans (measures to be supported by the project)
Facilitate agricultural, environmental and social assessment of communities and assist in elaboration of action plans
Organise trainings for target groups.
Contribute to refine needs participatory assessment of principal potentials and limitations for agricultural production in the project working area,
Stimulate farmer/community development processes and provide efficient and effective relevant training and consultancy to community farmer groups in order to raise technical knowledge and production.
Identification of suitable farmers and plots for the implementation of demo and experimental plots.
Establishment, monitoring and participatory assessment of demonstration and learning plots.
Timely elaboration of required planning documents as well as consistent monthly and annual summarized monitoring report in Tajik or English.
University degree in agriculture, engineering, environment, social and other related field.
Working experience (minimum 5 years) in agricultural development projects of international intergovernmental/nongovernmental organizations, technical cooperation agency or other relevant institution.
Good communication and facilitation skills.
Ability to work productively with minimum supervision,
The ability to cope with the basic living conditions in the project area.
Experience in working with the Tajik Governmental Institution and organizations or groups;
Basic report writing skills/experience and honesty;
Ability to plan and prioritize work duties
Ability to travel and to work under time pressure;
Computer operation skills, particularly in the use of MS Office Package;
Knowledge of English is an advantage;
Having commitment, sense of responsibility, ability to cope with stress, initiative, and accuracy with figures, basic analytical skills, friendly personality and positive attitude.
