NutritionProgramme Officer, Sughd
Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH is an international enterprise for cooperation and sustainable development, owned by the German Federal Government and active in 130 countries worldwide. On behalf of German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development, GIZ has been working in Tajikistan since 1995.
GIZ is inviting applicants for the following vacant positionin the Nutrition/Mother and Child Health (MCH) Programme:
Area of responsibility
§ Supporting the implementation of the technical part of the project on nutrition/MCH with focus on food security Issues for maternal and new-born health care;
§ Managing the Nutrition/MCH area of responsibility that forms part of the programme objectives, team agreements and/or agreements with the superior;
§ Prepare the TORs and contracts for local consultants and experts with agreement of programme director and in line with GIZ procedures and rules;
§ Assisting project/programme initiatives to provide professional advisory services to Nutrition/MCH training institutions, appropriate agencies and cooperate with DPs and a broad range of target groups;
§ Innovation and knowledge management.
§ Assist and monitors the development and implementation of project/programme plans and activities in nutrition/MCH area in close consultation with counterparts;
§ Contribute to preparing and implementing the coordination process, joint project/programme activities and work at the regional level for mother and new-born nutrition and health including movement of SUN;
§ Deal with the design, preparation and implementation of workshops, seminars and other events on issues connected with the mother and new-born nutrition/MCH project/programme’s area of activity;
§ Develop and organises quality assurance measures on nutrition/ MCH and suggests necessary changes, improvements and initiatives;
§ Develop and maintains contacts with all relevant stakeholders working in nutrition/MCH;
§ Represent the project at the project level and acts as its speaker;
§ Collect and circulates relevant information, disseminates project experiences;
§ Observe communication and interaction between government institutions, non-government organisations, and the local community through press evaluation, direct dialogs, participation in forums, seminars, etc.;
§ Assist in the follow up of the official project documents;
§ Assist in the provision of technical information and mechanism of the official procedures when project is sending their counterpart/s for training/seminar/study;
§ Participate in the process of investigation of the needs of government, non-government institutions;
§ Take part in the formulation of project action plans and facilitates synchronisation between the planning and budgeting system;
§ Coordinate, supervises and contributes to the preparation and implementation of project activities and carries out other activities necessary for the implementation of this component;
§ Assist in preparation, execution and documentation of training, workshops, forums, meetings, and other project activities together with the partner institution;
§ Assist assigned national and international consultants during technical missions and assignments;
§ Provide support in organisational and management questions;
§ Consult routinely with supervisor regarding all kinds of project activities;
§ Support cooperation, regular contact and dialogue with partners, assists with PR work and cooperates with local communities, relevant organisations, non-governmental agencies and individuals in the project/programme environment and with other projects to improve and maintain food security and health issues for mothers and Childs and good working relationships;
§ Communicate local interests and efforts, forwards these and encourages sharing ideas and information for the benefit of the project/programme;
§ Ensure Nutrition and MCH knowledge transfer to project/programme information;
§ Develop ready-to-use strategies and technical concepts, including clinical guidelines, training modules, clinical protocols / manuals and procedures;
§ Draw up reports and presentation documents in nutrition of mothers and children based on the evidence-based policies and strategies;
§ Prepare appropriate input for various project/programme nutrition/MCH reports including annual reports, and contributes to the other reports required by the programme manager and GIZ Head Office;
§ Assist with nutrition/health research activities and studies on political issues which benefit joint programmes;
§ Assist with general project planning and develops project concepts including preparation, organisation and moderation of planning exercises and their implementation, management, monitoring, quality management, evaluation, communication and documentation;
§ Coordinate relevant project activities at local level in consultation with the manager and in cooperation with the partners, both as regards implementation and preparing organisational aspects;
§ Compile the relevant information for joint activities and assignments;
§ Handle order management on behalf of GIZ (e.g. offer preparation, impact monitoring, project progress review, reporting).
§ University degree (Master’s or equivalent) in medicine, Nutrition or Public health, education in related social discipline with focus on nutrition and MCH care.
§ Knowledge in scaling up nutrition (SUN) with good understanding of both nutrition specific and sensitive interventions
§ At least 5 years of working experience on the implementation level of nutrition/health project activities; experience in working with government institutions and with international organisations for food security/health; experience in working independently;
§ Sound knowledge and practical application of concepts and mechanisms of social issues with particular focus to health care; experience in implementation/management of project activities; being motivated in the performing duties.
§ Good communication skills and high sensitivity in dealing with partner ministry and donor community; collaborative working spirit; reliable, good oral and writing skills in Russian; fluent in English; planning and organisation skills; used to work independently; dynamic, keep deadlines, excellent command of MS-Office, good working knowledge of modern telecommunication systems (telephone, fax, e-mail, internet)
§ Very good working knowledge of ITC technologies (related software, phone, fax, email, the internet) and computer applications (e.g. MS Office)
§ Fluent written and oral knowledge of English language
§ Willingness to upskill as required by the tasks to be performed – corresponding measures are agreed with management
